International Travel Tips for the Newbie Traveller

newbie traveller

Travelling takes one into a wider world with a lot of new experiences. Especially for those first-time travellers, it is an emotional amalgam of anxiety and excitement. We take a look at some of the most useful tips for the newbie traveller:

Plan, but don’t overdo it

travel plan

As a newbie, you need to plan certain things before you take off for your destination. For instance, it is wise enough to pre-book a cab or taxi when you arrive at your destination to ensure that you reach your stay comfortably and safely. However, don’t plan too much. Have an idea of what you want to do and choose from the available options. That’s the best way to explore.

Travel with an open mind

As the saying goes, “You never travel alone. The world is full of friends waiting to get to know you.” Don’t expect things to be the way they used to be at your place or the way you’ve imagined them to be. Since you will be meeting new people and cultures, it is important to understand, share, respect, and learn their way of doing things.

Pack less and carry less

Though it is recommended to carry all essentials when going for an international trip, however, packing dozens of expensive clothes, footwear, etc. is simply not logical. It is better to carry a few pieces as you can buy cheap articles (use and throw) from the local markets.

Stay alert and be decisive

Your safety during your travel is your utmost priority. While there are good people out there, remember that the bad ones also exist. Therefore, it is crucial to take care of your things and do not let thieves take over your belongings. Listen and trust your gut instinct. If you feel something is wrong, then immediately ask for help or get yourself out of that situation. Your decisive skills will help you in this.

Monitor your expenses

If not monitored properly, one might have to pay a fortune for an international trip. A few things to be kept in mind are:

  • While booking flights and cabs, compare at least 2-3 websites and look for promo coupons for additional discounts.
  • Always keep foreign currency in hand according to your destination so as to avoid unnecessary high conversion rates charged by money exchangers.

Be ready to try

travel

Apart from the language, culture and emotions, you might have to try the local dishes, clothing, etc. during your travel. Keep one mantra in mind- Things go wrong when you are on travel. So, one has to be ready to come out of their comfort zone and accept things as they come. And trust me, you will start enjoying things this way pretty soon.

Carry necessary gadgets

Never forget your mobile phone, camera, music gadgets and other necessary electronic stuff to ensure that you can keep yourself entertained and busy.
